Congratulations to Graduates

Dear Readers,

One word can mean so many things to so many people. Achievement or the First Step. A deep breath and no words. Tears and pride. Dreams and goals.

Some think "Finally," while others think "Where did the time go?"

As I watch all these young people, I am one of those who thinks, "Where did the time go?" I am also excited to see where these young people go with their futures. What will they achieve?

I know I will be trilling for all the graduates that I know and even for the ones that I do not, because it is a great achievement. For those who don't know trilling is a practice in some tribes that woman do. It is a vocal expression of strong feelings.

I know I will also be excited to see all the plumes and feathers that grace the heads of our youths. They should wear them with pride because they earned them through hard work and determination to finish.

So congratulations to all the graduates known and unknown. May your future be bright and footsteps light.

Have a great creative day.

cradleboards - reasoning

Dear Readers,

I wanted to share some things about cradleboards today.

I thought this was a good post as it is just past Mother's Day. This is Rachel an expected mother. She wanted me to teach her how to make a cradleboard for her baby. I almost think we bit off more than we could chew. We were rushing to get these done and she still had work to do when she went home to finish then up.

After helping lots of mothers create cradleboards for their babies and raising my own in cradleboards I have learned a few things.

1. It takes strength of mind to keep using a cradleboard, to some it just seems harder to use. I have had some use them only for a few months, however I have to commend them for trying and wanting to use them. Personally, I loved using mine and know that it helped me keep my sanity as a young mother.

2. It takes strength of heart to keep using a cradleboard. I have had mean things said to me, but I had to hold on to the belief that I was doing a good thing for my children. I saw my calm, smiling babies and kept going.

3. It takes strength of a physical nature. Cradleboards are not heavy but they are not light either. I use to rock my young ones to sleep and my arms would get tired, but when they finally fell asleep feed and comfortable, I could do other things: dishes, schoolwork, etc.

4. Cradleboards help a baby to see the family around them and be a part of it. I salute all the mothers out there who are trying to raise their children with culture, traditional values and love.

Have a great creative day.

Mike and Molly showing how it is for writers with humor part 4

Dear Readers,

I found the last installment in the Mike and Molly relatable episodes (at least for now).

I found this episode so funny because I am the same way. It is my writing. I would definitely have the same reaction as her - maybe funnier as I make up bad words such as bedpan and such.

However, as writers our writing is never good enough, there can always be changes made. I don't know if I would have published if I did not have the best supporter ever in my husband. He said just publish it and I did. I have a great support team- my husband, my kids and all the women who I call sister (blood and not).

So if you feel the need to scream, go for it but remember maybe it is for the best that we have ourselves and others to push us.

Have a great creative day.
